School Council have decided on their project for this year. We would like to raise some money to update the playgrounds and outdoor learning areas in school. There is already some money in the school budget but we will need to raise some extra money to enable us to do what we want to do. We are excited to begin planning the developments on both sites.

To start our fundraising efforts, we would like to do the following:

On Thursday 13^th October you can come to school in non-uniform. We are asking for a £1.00 donation for this. The money should be brought to school on Thursday morning and will be collected in the school offices.

Over half term we would like the children to do a sponsored Readathon. You need to read every day for at least 14 days of the half term holiday. You can read a paragraph a day, a page a day, a chapter or even a whole book, it's completely up to you. You can read whatever you like from comics to classics or even have a story read to you – anything goes.

We would love to see the evidence of the Readathon too. You could send in a photograph of your reading adventure (maybe reading in an unusual place or with a favourite person), draw a picture about your favourite book or write a book review. We will display all of this in school along with the running total for our fundraising appeal. Photos can be emailed to office@thelanes.notts.sch.uk or you can bring them in when we return after half-term.

It would be great if everyone gets involved in our Readathon. There is a sponsor form attached to this letter so that you can persuade as many people as you can to sponsor you.

 

Sponsorship donations can be brought to school or paid on Squid through the ‘Trips and Offers’ purse.
