Welcome
Welcome to The Lanes Primary School.
I am the proud Head Teacher of The Lanes Primary School and I would like to begin by welcoming you to our wonderful school. We strive for excellence in all that we do and we make it our daily purpose to show this in all aspects of our school life. All of the adults in our school work hard to demonstrate their own levels of excellence and relentlessness towards giving children the best possible quality of teaching and learning, excellent opportunities and providing our children with positive role-models.
Our school was formed in 2017 when Meadow Lane Infant School and College House Primary School amalgamated.
We are based on two sites - Reception and Year 1 at Meadow Lane and Years 2-6 at Cator Lane.
One of our guiding principles, which supports our efforts every day, is excellence. Everything we do is led by our desire to show excellence...this might be in our approach to work, the way we treat others, the manners we use towards our peers and visitors or in the way we respond to new experiences. You will hear the word 'excellent' many times as you move through school.
We are committed to:
- Providing excellent teaching and learning by passionate experts
- Having the highest expectations of all our pupils and knowing our children well
- Challenging all children to strive for academic, creative, sporting and personal accomplishment within a broad, knowledge rich, vibrant curriculum
- Developing a truly inclusive school, where ALL children can flourish
- Celebrating achievement in all areas
- Fostering an ethos of respect and empathy
- Instilling a lifelong love of learning and a strong grounding for future success
- Ensuring all children feel secure and happy
We celebrate perseverance; resilience and risk taking, ensuring children welcome challenge and are not frightened to make mistakes. We encourage children to take ownership of and responsibility for their learning, so they have the confidence and curiosity to ask questions, solve problems and respond to quality feedback. Children are praised for hard work, determination and having a positive attitude. We encourage the children to be proud of the school and their achievements in all areas of the curriculum. We foster open and honest communication with parents and actively seek to engage with all members of the community in a positive and collaborative manner.
Deciding on a primary school for your child is difficult so a good place to start is here on the website. I'm sure you'll feel our school through these pages but if you have the chance, please do come and visit... you can be sure of a very warm welcome.
With best wishes from a very proud and privileged Head Teacher,
Mr Pete Wilkes
