Letter to parents of Reception, Y1 & Y6 pupils
22 May 2020
Dear Parents/Carers of children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 6
Thank you to all the parents who have responded to let us know if you would be happy for your child to return to school at some point from June 1st. I know that this has not been an easy decision for you to make.
We have been working hard in school to try to be ready for a June 1st opening. However, due to the ever-changing situation we have pushed the opening week back to June 8th for Reception and Year 6 and June 15th for Year 1. This will give us time ensure that we have everything in place and will enable us to build up the number of children in school gradually. If all our children returned at once, we could have nearly 300 children in school. The children will be in for part of the week to start with and will be in school for whole days. This will be reviewed on a weekly basis depending on how things go in school and how the children settle.
Here is the revised opening schedule. This is provisional and may be subject to change.

At the moment we are planning to offer 2 days a week to start with so that we can be sure that all our systems work and to give the children a phased start back into school. As shown above, we will increase this to 3 and then 4 days over time but only if the situation within school at that time allows us to do so safely. We will be reviewing this on a weekly basis and we will inform you of any changes.
More detailed information will follow early in the week of June 1st. This will include your child’s ‘bubble’, the name of their teacher, their classroom, start and finish times, entrance to school and equipment that they will need. We are intending that they will not wear school uniform when they return.
As a school, we are really looking forward to seeing the children again as we have missed them all hugely. We are intending to continue with home learning and we will be teaching the children in school using those resources. Please be assured that all the decisions we are taking have the children at their very heart and we will do everything we can to make sure that the return to school is successful and happy.
Have a lovely ‘half term’ week and I will be in contact again during the week of 1st June.
