RAISING ASPIRATIONS FORTNIGHT
Dear Parents/Carers,
After the success of last year, The Lanes Primary School will be holding Raising Aspirations fortnight again across school this half term. The children will have the chance to meet a wide range of professionals and learn about the values, characteristics and skills required to succeed. We are also hoping that this fortnight will encourage the children to think about how they will contribute to their local and wider community when they are older.
We need YOUR experience! We are looking for a variety of people interested in spending a couple of hours talking to small groups of children about their career, educational routes or experiences. Many of our children are unaware of the career opportunities and pathways available to them. This is a fantastic way to provide them with first-hand knowledge of potential career paths and educational routes.
To that end, we are seeking parents/volunteers representing a wide range of careers who would be able and willing to be our presenters on one of the following dates below. Please note you can suggest family members or friends as volunteers. Presenters will need to be available from 1:30pm until 3pm on the day and may bring equipment, uniform or examples of their work, though this is not necessary. The children will have the chance to ask questions and learn more about the different careers available in a carousel style format.
If you or somebody you know is able to offer their time for one or more of the following dates, please let us know by completing the form via this link https://forms.office.com/e/6Wu9bpDc0c
Below are the dates for each year group – you do not necessarily have to attend the same session as your child’s year group.

Year 1 -Thurs 25th May 1.30pm – 3pm
Year 2 - Weds 17th May 1.30pm – 3pm
Year 3 - Mon 15th May 1.30pm – 3pm

Year 6 - Tues 23rd May 1.30pm – 3pm
We will reply by email to any volunteers on or before 8th May 2023.
We really hope that this fortnight will give our children an understanding of what they could aspire to in years to come, both in terms of further education and future careers, and that they will go on to realise their full potential and fulfil their aspirations for the future.
If you have questions, please do not hesitate to email or pop into the office.
Thank you in advance for your support and involvement.
Yours sincerely,
The RSHE team
