My name is Pete Wilkes and I am the Headteacher of The Lanes Primary School.   I am very proud to lead this fabulous school and I am really excited to welcome you and your child to The Lanes family.  Starting school for the first time is such an important milestone for you and your child and the whole team believe this should be a time of great excitement and opportunity.

Every member of staff is dedicated to ensure that your child can flourish and the Early Years team are a group of passionate and experienced staff who will ensure your child’s educational journey gets off to a great start.  The staff work hard during the summer term to visit any pre-school settings so we can get to know your child.  We have a range of events for you to attend so you can find out more about the school and ask any questions.  When it comes to September, we have a fabulous transition programme to get the children settled and reassure you that the start of their education is a positive and exciting experience.

Welcome to all the families who are beginning the process of applying for a school place for their child starting in Early Years in September 2026.

We are offering tours of the school on various dates in November.

The tour will start at the Meadow Lane site, Meadow Lane, Chilwell. NG9 5AA and will include a tour of the Cator Lane site as well (Year 2 - Year 6 classes). It will last for no longer than an hour.

We are also delighted to offer an open morning on Saturday 15th November between 9.30 am - 11.00 am. This is an opportunity for you to come along with your children to meet the Head Teacher and Early Years staff. Children will also get the chance to explore the classrooms and Early Years garden.
