Collection of toiletry items for people of Ukraine
Tue 08 Mar 2022We were blown away by your generous donations of toiletries for the people of Ukraine - at one point it was becoming difficult to walk through the foyer such was the large number of items donated! Thank you for donating so much in a short period of time.
Thanks must also go to the staff of Alphabet House Day Nursery who supported us with this campaign by sharing it with their parents.

Defibrillator Fundraising Appeal
Sun 06 Feb 2022
Dear Parents/Carers
The Year 6 Ambassadors are planning fundraising events so that we can buy two community Defibrillators one for each of our school sites.
We know that to keep our hearts healthy we need to eat a heart healthy diet. But we also know how important it is to do regular physical activity. Regular physical activity can also help strengthen your bones and muscles. It can help you feel more energetic, happier and relaxed.
As part of our Healthy Hearts for Half term programme we will be encouraging everyone to be more active whilst raising money for the school to buy the Community defibrillators.
Our Healthy Hearts for Half Term will begin on Friday 11th February where we will be selling skipping ropes, frisbees, parachutes and lots more on each playground from 8.30am in the morning, look out for our posters and our video on the school website https://www.thelanes.notts.sch.uk/school-ambassadors/
The activities will run throughout the half term week. We would love any support you can give your child with their fundraising, by asking your friends and family to sponsor them using the attached sponsor form. It could be 100 hops, skips, run a mile each day, bike miles, swim or even do a triathlon with a group of friends or family or even your dog. You choose which physical activity you want to do so we can raise as much money as possible.Sponsorship donations can be brought to school or paid on Squid through the ‘Trips and Offers’ purse.
We hope that you will support your child and The Lanes in this community event.
From The Year 6 Ambassadors Mollie, Zachary, Evie, Sam, Olivia, Josh, Linden, Nuolin, Poppy, Freddie, Holly & Attie

Medication In School
Mon 10 Jan 202210 January 2022
Dear Parents
MEDICATION IN SCHOOL
Following a review of our medication policy at a recent governors meeting, we are writing to inform you of the changes that have been agreed.
In most circumstances, medication (eg antibiotics) prescribed three times a day can be taken at home – before school, after school and before bedtime. However, if prescribed medication needs to be taken four times a day we can administer a dose during the school day, clear written instructions must be provided and the medicine must be kept in a properly labelled container. The label must be clear and free from alterations or defacement and must show:
• The name of the medication
• The name of the student
• The dosage and any specific directions for the medication (not simply “as directed” or “as required”)
• Precautions relating to the medication (eg “caution, may cause drowsiness” or “store in a refrigerator”)
• The name of the dispensing pharmacist/doctor
• The expiry date and the date of issue
The use of non-prescribed medication is generally discouraged but we recognise that very occasionally pain relief may be required. Paracetamol & Ibuprofen are the only non-prescribed pain relieving medication which may be administered and only if a medication consent form has been completed by the parent/carer. Without this consent paracetamol/ibuprofen cannot be administered.
If your child regularly suffers from acute pain such as migraine, you may authorise and supply appropriate painkillers complying with the details as above for ‘Prescribed Medication’.
Students with asthma should carry their inhalers with them at all times. Both the inhaler and spacer (if required) should be clearly labelled with your child’s name and class. We will be sending home all inhalers and spacers at the end of each term for you to check the date/contents and also to enable you to clean the spacer. It is your responsibility to ensure the inhaler is returned at the start of the new term.
If your child has been prescribed use of an Epi-pen this will be kept in the school office for emergency use. You will need to complete a health plan document which we will send home with your child.
All medication will be sent home with your child at the end of each term – if the medication is ongoing you will need to return it to school at the start of the new term. If you have medication in school which is not currently being administered to your child we will send you a text requesting that you come to school to collect it.
Yours sincerely

Macmillan Coffee Morning
Fri 24 Sep 2021Macmillan Coffee Morning
The Lanes Primary School
Meadow Lane site
Dear Parents, Carers
We are holding our coffee morning to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support on Friday 24h September 2021 from 9.00am to 10.00am on the Meadow Lane site.
In preparation for the event we’re asking for donations of cakes and cookies. We’d be delighted to receive home made and shop bought cakes, fruit loaves, cookies, fairy cakes to name but a few.
We respectfully ask that if cakes or cookies contain nuts that they are labelled. Any ‘free from’ cakes are most welcome so everyone can enjoy a treat.
Please help by sending in cakes to reception at either site before Friday 24th and join us for coffee and cake at the Meadow Lane site. Any cakes that remain uneaten!/unsold will be available to buy at both sites after school that day.
This is our first coffee morning this year at The Lanes, it is a great opportunity to meet other parents and have a chat. Please come and support our school and a great cause.
We look forward to you joining us for the ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ to drink coffee and eat cake.
We’re Ready to Brew. Are you?
Yours sincerely
