Parent Letter 01.05

Dear Families,

Thank you so much for all your hard work this week. You have completed some amazing work and lots of you have been very creative. I am certainly missing the sunshine but my garden is definitely appreciating the rain!

We will be making phone calls again next week just to catch up with how things are going. It is so nice to speak to you and the children and it gives us all a good connection in this unique time. I hope that you have all enjoyed the Zoom class meetings. The staff are holding lots of these too – it is just so nice to ‘see’ people in whatever way we can.  Each class will have at least one more Zoom meeting before half term – look out for the text and email! A polite reminder that any photographs or screenshots must not be shared via social media, Facebook or WhatsApp please due to safeguarding restrictions. Thank you.

The teachers are continuing to work hard to update the website and it has been nice to see photographs of all the great work being done at home. I hope that you are enjoying the videos that the staff are creating – we are all gradually becoming more confident to get ourselves on screen. We are all certainly updating our ICT skills very quickly. I will be doing a virtual assembly every week from today – each week will be a different theme linked to our values and will take place with a guest member of staff in a different part of school. I hope that you enjoy them. These videos will be on the ‘Video Messages’ section of the Class Pages on the school website.

Next week, Friday is the Bank Holiday so this means that the teachers will only be setting work for four days. Friday is the 75th Anniversary of VE day which we will now be celebrating at home. There are lots of ideas for how to do this on the Broxtowe Borough Council website at https://www.broxtowe.gov.uk/veday75 including a great pack for children https://www.broxtowe.gov.uk/media/7532/kids-activity-pack-accessible.pdf A copy of this is also on our website and we will print some off that you can collect from the entrance to Cator Lane from Monday. We would love to see the things that you get up to – email us any pictures, photographs, etc and we will put them on the website.

It was lovely to see lots of you last week when we opened our library for you to change your books. We will be doing this again at the end of next week and the week after as follows –

Thursday 7th May - Reception at Meadow Lane and Year 2 and 5 at Cator Lane

Monday 11th May - Year 1 at Meadow Lane and Years 3 and 6 at Cator Lane

Tuesday 12th May - Year 4 at Cator Lane

Please come to school between 9.30am and 1pm.

This half term one of our core values is Determination. We have certainly had to be determined as we face the challenges and changes in our lives at the moment.  We have put lots of resources and links on our website in the Mental Health and Wellbeing section and the NHS website ‘Every Mind Matters’ has some good tips and activities https://www.nhs.uk/oneyou/every-mind-matters Mrs Brown will also be writing to you next week with some good ideas and things to try to keep you all happy and healthy.

Keep going – I know that you can do this and together we will be stronger than ever when we come back to school.

Mrs Revill
